I Feel Like I Am- by Lee Bradford on Redbubble.
I’ve been trying some new things, some old things. Trying to bust myself free from the 11×17 format, but also bringing my colors back in. I think back to the first time I tried painting in this style and I really have come a very long way from even just four years ago.
This is another one of those images that’s been floating around in my head (pun… somewhat intended) and in some ways it’s about memory, in others its about reconnecting. Reconnecting with those memories, I suppose. All the symbolism is personal, I couldn’t tell you why I associate whales and oceans with memory. I couldn’t tell you why the swimmer isn’t me. I couldn’t tell you why I gravitate towards Lisa Frank colors.
But some things you just have to let be. Let the image be, let the memories be, let them swim around in an endless sea. It may make sense some day, it may never make sense any day.
And that’s okay. That’s life, that’s memory. That’s knowing when to let go.
