Ok but at the same time can we fn understand that instilling pride at a young age in your own work and having a huge payoff will create far more potential for an individual than being handed an effortless pass from the community in the realm of ‘this makes me feel better as a person’
Hey not to be That Person but there’s an irrevocable difference between a child working for something that they want as opposed to something that they need. He’s not selling pumpkins to buy a gaming console or for some first edition collectable he really wants. He’s selling pumpkins for a service dog that he needs for his chronic illness. Teaching children to have “pride” in working for something that should be a right enforces the norm that we aren’t inherently deserving of things that can be life saving. A child selling pumpkins to buy something for himself teaches pride and hard work. A child selling pumpkins to be able to afford a potentially life saving service is 1) a tragedy, and 2) teaching children that in order to deserve something they need, then they must be exploited in order to get it in a system that doesn’t care for them. But go off, I guess.
i cant believe its daylight savings time and i havent seen the “hello its me your cousin oskaar from iceland” video on my dash yet you are all slackers
i guess i have to do all the work around here dont i
This is a good reminder for everyone including myself! I drew this comic when I was still dealing with finals in school, and while I don’t have exams anymore, I still might be pushing myself too hard with organizing book launches and keeping up with work and my health. 😅 So take it from me! You can and should push yourself! But don’t continuously push yourself beyond, or your health and happiness might suffer.
And if you haven’t heard the news! My book is coming out in less than 2 weeks, and I’d love it if you took a look!! ☺️There’s 30 EXCLUSIVE comics that won’t be posted online! ✨
For those wondering, my url comes from a famous post by @copperbadge, discussing depression & patronuses:
I struggled with major depression from about age 12 onwards. Reading this brought me joy and a spark of light in a dark place. I thought of it often to encourage myself during the dark patches. Now that I’m in the best health of my life, it gives me no small degree of satisfaction to look back on this.
wow
this blog has a surprisingly wholesome origin
i love it
full disclosure the first post i ever made was a reblog of the Good Guy Lucifer meme
