He brought these two flowers in last night, and decided to pose for me when I put them near him to take photos.
Plot twist! He brought back a hibiscus tonight instead of the usual ones.
He must be feeling more tropical.
He’s back to the normal ones now…
Even when it’s raining, he still decides to go and find these. Good thing for him that whatever breed of cat he is, he has remarkably water-resistant fur!
He had a very busy night while everyone was asleep last night…

Oh! I’ve explained it before, but I know some people haven’t seen the explanation, so here it is:
Mr. Slash has made friends with an elderly woman who lives about three houses down from me. He gets the flowers from her garden. They are Camellias, so they grow, and fall off the bush by the handful, and he goes over there at night, and takes every single one from the ground, to bring back to me.
So, when I said he was stealing them, it was somewhat inaccurate. It’s actually more like he’s helping an old woman clean her garden up, and giving me gifts at the same time. She knows who he is, and where he comes from, and knows what he does.
This is delightful, and what a beautiful cat he is!
For anyone not so familiar with cat behavior, this cat is out of its mind excited to do this. It’s much more rare for cars to wag their tails but it means the same as it does when a dog does it. This cat is curious and proud and playing. It keeps looking at its owner too, like “LOOK AT ME, DAD” and it’s so rare to get videos of cats this happy. This is fucking rad
Nope.. wagging tails means anger or irritation in cat body language.

you’re both right 🙂 a wagging tail means the cat is highly stimulated (think coiled spring, ready to go off). depending on the situation, this can be interpreted differently – just like people can smile nervously at job interviews vs. happily grin at friends.
in most cases, it’s safe to interpret overstimulation as ‘you’re doing something to amp up the cat & it wants you to stop’ (ex. unwanted petting). it should be seen as a warning; all that pent-up energy COULD be released as a swat or bite.
BUT in this case, that tail-wagging ‘frustration’ is the stimulation that comes from problem-solving (where can I jump? is it safe to go here?) and the excitement of play. it’s good to be wary of ‘cute’ animals vids, but this seems like an unproblematic video!
I’d like to add to this–just look at world-famous box-loving cat, Maru, who wags his tail every time he stuffs his body into a box or other small object. He’s clearly not about to attack the person behind the camera! It’s definitely based on stimulation, but more to the point of “ahhh FINALLY I’ve gotten into the small space, now how do I get the rest of me inside”:

It’s cuter when you recognize that the lion with visible spots is a juvenile. There’s a very high chance the other lion that runs over to investigate is the MOTHER.
The first lion is asking for comfort because she was given a big spook!!! and she needs mommy to tell her it’s safe and ok!!!! (What’s cuter is that mommy clearly reassures her, and goes on to take the parent role of ‘deal with the scream rat in order to protect my large and easily frightened daughter’)
My cats have me trained to such a perfect routine, it’s hilarious.
Wait for alarm to go off in the morning and then insist on cuddles. If alarm does not go off and human is attempting to sleep-in, wake her up at the same time anyways.
Insist on being picked up and cuddled while human is preparing breakfast.
Yell at her when she leaves for work. If she doesn’t leave for work occupy the cat bed on the desk and the top of desk chair to observe her and get cuddles all day.
Insist on dinner at PRECISELY six o’clock. Precisely. Scream until delivery.
Start screaming for reading cuddles at precisely nine o’clock. Lead human to bedroom. Grey cat shall tuck self under left arm and on top of left boob while reading occurs. Black cat shall snuggle by feet.
Grey cat shall sleep next to left side of human. Black cat shall sleep on human’s pillow.
Repeat.
Every day. Every. Day. They’ve got a better sense of time than I do.
I think cats only have One Day, and it’s This Day. Dogs might have three our four days, like This Day, This Day That Is Different Every Few Days, A Hypothetical Tomorrow and THE APOCALYPSE.
