When the government shutdown under the Obama administration it was a divided government. Which made more sense because under a divided government it’s harder to compromise.
Here we are, 2018, and the Republicans control ALL branches of the government. They still failed to compromise and negotiate.
This is actually the third government shut-down this year. The third. There was the first in January, an additional one in February, and now we’re rounding out the year with athird shut-down. There was only one during the entire eight years Obama was President. There have only been nine total shut-downs in the entire history of America. Trump is responsible for athird of all government shut-downs and this has all happened in one year and it is only his second year in office. Is that alarming? That should be really fucking alarming.

This is a real world example of “If you look up x in the dictionary, you’ll find a picture of y” and the fact that the Republicans blame Google for “search results bias” instead of admitting that most people think that the current president is an idiot. That’s hilarious.

Maybe half the country thinks the other half doesn’t give two shits about them because it’s true, but not the way you think. It’s being consistently demonstrated that straight white Christian Republicans literally don’t care about anyone not just like them and often actively go out of their way to hurt everyone else. And maybe rather than a “liberal elite” with a teenage worldview I’m actually a 35 year old combat veteran that grew up in trailer parks in bumfuck nowhere south carolina but actually has the capacity for empathy with people outside of my ethnic group. If you’re going to tell me that giving equal rights and protections to everyone somehow diminishes straight white god-fearing christians, then you’re damned right I’m not going to listen to you.
